''manav seva madhav seva '' : RSS

RSS was founded in 1925 by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, who was a doctor in the central Indian city of Nagpur. Hedgewar as a medical student in Kolkata had been a part of the revolutionary activities of the Anushilan Samiti and Jugantar striving to free India from British rul. He had been charged with sedition in 1921 by the British Administration and was imprisoned for a year. After returning to Nagpur, he was briefly a member of Indian National Congress before he left it in 1925, to form the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. After the formation of the RSS, Hedgewar kept the organization from having any direct affiliation with any of the political organisations then fighting British rule. But Hedgewar and teams of volunteers, took part in the Indian National Congress, led movements against the British rule. Hedgewar was arrested in the Jungle Satyagraha agitation in 1931 and served a second term in prison.
The RSS was established as a educational body whose objective was to train a group of Hindus, who on the basis of their character would work to unite the Hindu community so that India could become an Independent country and a creative society

Second decade of Kashmiri Hindus exile marked in New Delhi
Gadkhari says, autonomy report dangerous, BJP will oppose it ‘tooth and nail’ and ensure Kashmiri Hindus safety.

Kashmiri Hindus must be returned with safety and honour to their home in the valley. This must be the primary duty of the Government. Thundered Mr. Nitin Gadkhari at a solemn function to mark the two decade forced exile of Kashmiri Hindus. The function was organised by Syama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation, a nationalistic think tank. While responding to build an emotional expressway between Srinagar and New Delhi, he promised safety and return of Kashmiri Hindus return with honour and dignity. Commending Mr. Jagmohan, he acclaimed his tenure as the ‘golden age’. To a self posed question, he answered that, human Rights are independent of religion and ethnicity. He termed greater autonomy report as pernicious and the BJP will oppose it ‘tooth and nail’. The same was organised to express the solidarity to the five lakh, forcefully exiled Kashmiri Hindus from their homes and hearth in early 1990s. The controversial Justice Sagir Ahmed committee report on granting greater autonomy to Kashmir was also deliberated. Mr. Jagmohan cautioned that, granting greater autonomy would set a bad precedent in reference to ‘troubled state’. Madhu Kishwar and Thupstan Chhewang and demanded that any composite dialogue between New Delhi and Kashmir must involve both Kashmiri Hindus and Ladakhi population. Mr. Bal Apte regretted that human Rights institutions were showing double standard towards ‘Kashmiri Hindus’.
The Program was presided by Mr. Nitin Gadkhari, Mr. Jagmohan, former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Mr. Thupstan Chhewang, former M.P and patron and president of Ladakh Union Territory Front. The galaxy of august invitees included Madhu Kishwar, editor Manushi, Prerana Kaul Mishra, deputy editor, Economic Times online, Mr. Moti Kaul, President All India Kashmiri Samaj,   Mr. Bal Apte, Dr. Harshvardhan, Mr. Tarun Vijay, the President, Secretary and Director of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation respectively and other office bearers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
The success of the program was evident from, all the Delhi based Kashmiri Hindu organisations calling off independent commemorative programs to join hands with Syama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation to mark the two decade exile of Kashmiri Pundits.
